All Local Farmer's Market has a new location at 711 Whaley Street
July 11, 2009
It's Saturday morning, so I headed over to Emile De Felice's All Local Farmer's Market to get some fresh vegetables. The interest in buying local produce grows daily in our city, and I saw numerous District 3 residents shopping this morning. For the past two years the market opened twice monthly on alternate locations, and I made frequent stops at the Rosewood site. Emile has now decided to open every Saturday (from 8:00 am-12:00 noon) and has relocated to space adjacent to the wonderful 701 Gallery on Whaley Street in the Olympia neighborhood. The market officially opened at the new location on July 4th, and by noon almost everything had been sold!
There are numerous local vendors selling a wide range of produce. I got my tomatoes from Wendy and John Eleazer, who have a farm near Irmo. John told me that they were the "Celebrity" variety, one that I have grown for a number of years. They made a terrific sandwich for lunch!
