Public meetings to discuss possible police merger

Columbia City Council members have scheduled four public meetings throughout the city’s four council districts to discuss the possibility of Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott managing the Columbia Police Department.
The meetings are:
District 1: Aug. 24, 6:30 p.m. at the Eau Claire Print Building, 3907 Ensor Avenue. The meeting is in conjunction with the Eau Claire Community Council’s quarterly meeting.
District 2: Aug. 31, 6 p.m. at the Cecil Tillis Center, 2111 Simpkins Lane.
District 3: Aug. 25, 5:30 p.m. at the Capital Senior Center, 1650 Park Circle. Lott is scheduled to attend the meeting
District 4: Aug. 24, 6 p.m. at Woodland Park, 6500 Old Knight Parkway. Lott is scheduled to attend the meeting.
