Key elements of the restoration plan include:
The walkways incorporate a “loop” design with the interior footpath relocated closer to Rocky Branch and the sidewalk section along Blossom Street set back from the roadway.
The “loop” walkway in Maxcy Gregg Park will be incorporated into an “urban trails” system connecting Granby Park on the Congaree River with Martin Luther King Park.
As the entire Park is located in the flood plain, “rain garden” features will be located in the Park to help mitigate surface saturation from storm water.
The foot bridge across Rocky Branch will be improved to insure ADA accessibility.
The lighting system in the interior and on the perimeter of the Park will provide for pedestrian safety and security.
Trees will also be planted to work in tandem with the rain garden features to mitigate the impact of surface saturation from storm water.
